Can we compare MMA to Engineering? Yes we can!
To become an MMA artist you must learn many different skills, different arts of fighting and combine them. Only when you are good at many of them and when being in the hexagon and WHEN the opportunity arises you can put them to use and win.
MMA fighters used to be one discipline fighters, these times are gone. MMA skills: Boxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Each would take a lifetime to reach mastery.
The key world is HAVE them. If you don't HAVE the skills you sure won't be able to use them!
Back to Engineering, there is a saying "Jack of all trades master of none." does it still stand? Hardly.
In the Digital Age this has to be redefined "Jack of many skills, the complete tradesman".
